As I mentioned in my previous blog, 2018 was a great year for both computational storage and for NGD Systems. We finished up the year last week exhibiting at the both the Gartner IT Infrastructure, Operations, and Cloud Strategies Conference in Las Vegas (where we announced being selected as a “Cool Vendor” in Storage Technologies by Gartner), and at NVMe Developer Days in San Diego. As we stated previously, NGD Systems also won several awards this year for our technology, and the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) launched the Computational Storage Technical Working Group (TWG). And while 2018 was an exciting year, I can promise you that 2019 will be even more exciting for those who follow NGD Systems and Computational Storage.
I don’t want to give away all of our upcoming news for next year, but there are a few areas that you should definitely watch what we are doing in 2019. These include the following:
- NGD Systems will announce the General Availability (GA) of products based on our Newport Platform in Q1 of 2019. The Newport platform will be available in a variety of form factors, including U.2, EDSFF-E1.S, M.2, and a PCIe add-in card (AIC). Newport expands the capabilities of our Catalina-2 platform by utilizing NGD’s industry-first 16-channel ASIC with computational storage capabilities, providing increases in both performance and capacity.
- NGD Systems will continue to build up on our current technology ecosystem by announcing several new application partnerships throughout 2019. Look for announcements around applications that focus on providing real-time analytics for petabyte-scale datasets, as well as edge computing applications where power, space, and weight are considerable issues. Look for benchmarks on some of these applications that will show considerable performance acceleration in the near future.
- To compliment these new applications partnerships, NGD Systems will also announce several new go-to-market (GTM) partners in 2019. We are working on formalizing relationships with several premiere GTM partners in both the two-tier distribution and system integrator (SI) marketplaces. These relationships will provide a global reach for our products, and the value-add provided by these partnerships for application integration will simplify the acquisition, deployment, and provisioning, and management of NGD Systems computational storage products with target applications.
These are but a few of the milestones that NGD Systems will achieve in 2019. We hope that you will continue to follow us. If you are a potential technology partner, application partner, or GTM partner who is interested in computational storage, please reach out to me at email@example.com.
